Trademark applicants have two methods to apply for trademark registration: one is to entrust a qualified trademark agency to handle the registration, and the other is for the applicant to directly visit the Trademark Office of the National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) at their trademark registration hall. Currently, CNIPA does not accept trademark registration applications by mail.

To reduce the risk of trademark registration, applicants are advised to conduct a trademark search before submitting their registration application. For a simple trademark search, applicants can directly log in to the official website of the Trademark Office (http://sbj.saic.gov.cn) and follow the relevant procedures. If applicants wish to obtain a more professional analysis of the search results, they can also entrust a trademark agency to conduct the search. It is recommended to choose a trademark agency that is registered as a company and has been recorded with CNIPA, and the list can be found on the official website of the Trademark Office (http://sbj.saic.gov.cn).

The official fee for filing an application for a regular trademark is RMB 1,000* per application, with each application limited to 10 items of goods or services within the same class. For more than 10 items (excluding the initial 10), an additional RMB 100* per item is charged. The official fee for certification marks and collective marks is RMB 3,000* per application. These fees are collected by CNIPA.

Documents required for trademark registration application:

One copy of "Trademark Registration Application Form";

If the applicant is a company, one copy of the duplicate of the "Enterprise Legal Person Business License" is required. If the applicant is an individual from mainland China, a copy of the individual business license and identity card is required. Applicants from Hong Kong and Macao do not need to provide individual business licenses;

Six copies of the trademark specimen (if specified in color, five copies in color and one in black and white). For three-dimensional logos: two copies each from the top, front, back, left, and right views, with the size of the trademark specimen ranging from 5×5 cm to 10×10 cm;

One copy of the "Trademark Agency Authorization Letter" if the application is handled by a trademark agency (for jointly registered, the authorization letter should be issued by the representative);

If claiming priority, the priority document needs to be submitted.

Note: The above fee schedule is subject to change. For the latest fee information, please visit the relevant official website.
